Anniston Elementary students get a glimpse of state government

Students at Anniston Elementary School talked politics with Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves and Senator Sean Tindell.
Today, the Lt. Gov. and Senator Tindell threw a pizza party for the school’s third graders after winning a school wide civics contest. Tindell and Reeves spoke to the kids about how important it is to learn who their leaders and representatives are.
Third grader Julian Pearce led his grade in answering the questions. Senator Sean Tindell pinned him with a special state senate pin. “I got really excited and I felt like the best thing in my life just happened,” said Julian, “And I’m sure I want to be like Senator Tindell.”
“I think it’s important for them to know that what happens on a local level is very important to their day to day lives and in some instances more important than what happens in Washington D.C. I think it’s important for them to know that I’m a product of this same school and I want them to know that anything is possible and they can go in and tackle life and accomplish a lot of goals,” said Tindell.
Tindell tells News 25 he was pleased to see how smart these students are on topics involving our state.
