An Industrial Fire at Blacklidge Emulsions
Gulfport units responded to a report of an industrial fire at Blacklidge Emulsions on Reichol Road in Gulfport shortly after 8:30 Sunday morning. Seven units responded to the fire within minutes. Upon arrival, they were met with heavy, black smoke and fire from an 800 gallon asphalt emulsification tank. Response teams used foam to smother the flames. It took about an hour and a half to get the situation under control. There were no injuries. Billy Kelley said, “There was no one there at the time. A truck driver came up on scene and found it and immediately called 911 and we had units on scene within 4 minutes. There is nothing that will harm the environment in the air that is out there. It’s completely under control." There was no product spilled and the surrounding area is safe, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
