Amtrak Mardi Gras service welcomes 100,000th passenger

Amtrak’s Mardi Gras Service is celebrating a big milestone Tuesday, less than a year since it brought passenger rail back to South Mississippi.

The service’s 100,000th passenger boarded this morning, a number that was far beyond the original first year projection of 75,000 riders.

Some Coast leaders, like Biloxi Mayor FoFo Gilich, hopped aboard for a celebratory ride with Southern Rail Commission leaders to celebrate the achievement.
