Amtrak announces starting date for new Mardi Gras Service

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- There have been signs of progress as our South Mississippi cities prepare for Amtrak’s Mardi Gras Service.

Earlier Tuesday, press conferences regarding Amtrak happened all over the Coast. Topics discussed at these press conferences included the expected start date, train schedule, ticket costs, and more.

Excitement was in the air as people showed up at Biloxi City Hall for an much anticipated Amtrak update.

Amtrak has announced that the start date for the new service will be August 18. Tickets are on sale now. Adult coach fares end to end start at $15 each.

There are also discounts for children, students, seniors, veterans, military personnel, and other groups.

This new route will include stops in Bay St. Louis, Gulfport, Biloxi, and Pascagoula, offering both morning and evening departures to and from New Orleans and Mobile.
