Amtrak announcing start date for service on the coast

Mississippi Gulf Coast (WXXV)- Tomorrow, July 1, at a series of news events across the route, Amtrak will announce the start date for full service by Amtrak Mardi Gras Service intercity passenger trains twice-daily between New Orleans and Mobile.

With a news conference in Mobile, Amtrak will open the trains for booking with Amtrak Vice President Nicole Bucich providing schedule and fare information and recognizing years of work to bring new, relevant, and reliable Amtrak to the growing region — with the support of the freight railroads hosting our trains. She will be joined by Southern Rail Commission Chairman Knox Ross at each event, along with mayors, other local officials, and tourism leaders.
