Amnesty Period
The city of Moss Point has a limited time offer on the table residents should take advantage of.
In a collaborative effort between the Moss Point Police Department and municipal court people can pay outstanding fines without fear of being arrested.
The judge will set aside any bench warrant fee for those who work out their fines which creates a total savings of 250 dollars.
Residents should be prepared to pay at least half of their outstanding balances to avoid further penalties.
They can also set you up on a payment plan to get rid of those fees.
“It’s going to help the city recoup some money, but also on top of that it will help people get their driver’s license back…not have the fear of having an active warrant for your arrest you know…nobody wants somebody to come to their work and arrest them for a warrant.”
– Lt. Henry Bouganin Patrol Commander, Moss Point Police Department
At the moment the city has about ten million dollars in owed fines.
The amnesty period runs from March 27th to May first.
