American Red Cross holding blood drives across the Coast

The American Red Cross invites you to celebrate summer and save lives.

The Red Cross is holding a blood drive this week as part of Media for Red Cross. It began today and will extend through Saturday, June 23rd.

The drive will be held in multiple locations across the Gulf Coast.

Giving just one donation can save up to three lives and those who donate will receive a $10 gift card.

Denise Smith with the Red Cross of Southeast Mississippi says the need for blood donations never stops. “It’s the one thing we can do as humans that doesn’t cost us any money but does save multiple lives with each donation. You can save anywhere from one to three lives with a whole blood donation. Every two seconds somebody is in need of blood and while we may be, you know, our schedules might be shaken up in the summer time because we’re going on vacations or anything like that, the need for blood never takes a summer vacation.”

The blood drive continues Tuesday and Wednesday at Edgewater Mall from noon to 6 p.m. and at Central Bible Church in Bay St. Louis from noon to 5 p.m.
