American Heart Month
Now that Valentine’s Day is over, candy and chocolate hearts may be on sale, but your real heart will never be half the price. That’s why it’s very important to make sure it stays healthy.
February is American Heart Month, a great time to commit to a healthy lifestyle to benefit your heart. According to the CDC, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women. Having a family member who has suffered from a heart condition, being overweight, smoking, or just being over 45 can increase your risk of heart disease.
Cardiovascular experts with Singing River Health Systems share some tips for maintaining a healthy heart. Practice Administrator Timothy Neese said, “Knowing numbers, keeping a close eye on your blood pressure, your heart rate, your blood glucose levels, healthy eating is one of the best things to keep an eye on and physical activity, making sure you’re exercising most days of the week is which is about four to five days a week.”
To make sure your heart is healthy there is an upcoming heart screening at the Singing River Healthplex in Pascagoula on February 20th and the Ocean Springs CV Clinic on March 6th.
