American Heart Association recognizes Memorial Hospital Gulfport’s stroke team

Memorial Hospital Gulfport’s stroke team gathered this afternoon to celebrate its success, recognized by the American Heart Association.

The stroke team earned the ‘Get with the Guidelines’ stroke gold plus award for its commitment to making sure patients receive the most appropriate treatment.

Dr. Lee Voulters, the head of the stroke team, said the award could not have come without the work of the team as well as emergency room, radiology, stroke coordinators, nurses and hospital administration.

Memorial Hospital established the first stroke program in Mississippi in 2005.
