Ambulance Service Contract Coming to an end in Jackson County
After a 16 year partnership, Jackson County is considering cutting ties with Acadian Ambulance Service.
The emergency medical provider’s contract with the county expires this November. The Jackson County Board of Supervisors met today to discuss whether to keep the company or find a new one. Before moving forward, officials are weighing legal matters. A decision was not made today and the issue is being tabled for further discussion.
Gautier Mayor Gordon Gollott says the idea is to find the best service for all cities in the county. “The county wants to go out because it’s time. They’ve had that contract for quite a while, since 2000, so you really should go out for an RFP every once in a while and see if you can find somebody to do better service.”
The mayor of Gautier tells News 25 their city has experienced a few issues in the past with Acadian, but according to the Jackson County Emergency Services Director he hasn’t heard any complaints concerning the ambulance company in years.
