All-Star World Series Tournaments begin play at Gulfport Sportsplex

The 2022 All-Star World Series Tournaments began today at the Sportsplex in Gulfport with more than 100 teams looking to push their way to the top.

The tournaments kicked off this morning with both the boys baseball teams and the girls softball teams.

In total, about 55 softball teams and 80 baseball teams of all age groups qualified for competition.

Together, these tournaments bring in about 5,000 guests to the Coast and about $6 million in revenue. The games will start again on Friday and will wrap up on Saturday. Gulfport Sportsplex Manager Kirby Jones said, “A lot of cheering, a little bit of music. I think these softball girls are like cheerleaders sometimes. They got these great chants, but it’s just the atmosphere is just full of enthusiasm and it’s almost tangible.”

The tournament will hold a weather day on the 17th if needed.
