All Funding Secured for Security Cameras on Biloxi-Ocean Springs Bridge

It is official: security cameras will be installed on the Biloxi Bay Bridge.
This comes one year after a sexual assault on the bridge prompted a group of women to form the group W.A.V.E or Women Against Violence Everywhere. They’ve been raising money for cameras ever since and have been just about $8,000 short for the past few months. Attorney Robert Wilson, who works in Oxford but is originally from Pascagoula, heard about their mission and decided to donate the rest of the money needed for the cameras.
Today, a friend of his presented the check to the group of ladies on his behalf this morning. Everyone was so pleased to see this effort come to fruition. Lynn Rouse presented the check on Robert Wilson’s behalf. “I felt proud of our community for being able to do this. And of course, I appreciate my friend for donating that. Bob is well known for his philanthropy around the state,” said Rouse. Founder of W.A.V.E Robin Cooley said, “We just think that this is something that can benefit everyone who uses this bridge. It can be used to deter things from happening in the first place but like Mr. Wilson said, he’s an attorney, that this would be evidence that could be used.”
Two cameras will be placed on the Ocean Springs side of the bridge, pointing in opposite directions. Now that the funds are secured, it’s just a matter of finding a company to install them.
