All city jail contracts up for renewal in Jackson County
This evening, we bring you a follow up to a story we brought you yesterday about the Jackson County Jail.
Supervisors did vote to terminate the contract with Moss Point to house inmates at the jail.
However, county officials clarified the action, saying that all of the contracts with the cities were being renegotiated for the 2025 fiscal year that begins October 1st.
Moss Point and Ocean Springs had to go through termination because of the amount of time left on the contract.
Gautier and Pascagoula either were expired or close to the end of the contract.
The move is a procedural action to get all four cities on the same timeline.
