Alfred Williams awarded Outstanding Sportsman Award

The Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks voted to award Alfred Williams of Jackson the Outstanding Sportsman Award.
The award recognizing his achievements as promoter of fisheries and conservation, as well as breaking barriers in bass fishing.
Williams first joining the Mississippi State team in the B.A.S.S. Nation Club after returning from the Vietnam War.
He became the first African-American to qualify for the Bassmaster Classic, influencing other African-Americans to start bass fishing.
