Airport Releases New Rate Map for Taxis

Tuesday, the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport finalized a new rate map for taxi cabs to go into effect Wednesday, October 1st. The new map is a revision of another version approved earlier in September, which several small taxi companies complained was too heavy handed.

The old map established rate zones covering the entire Gulf Coast for passengers travelling to or from the airport. The new map only sets fares for the 24 most common destinations of airport customers. Under the new rate map, a trip from the airport to the Beau Rivage Casino will cost $39 and a trip to the Seabee Base will cost $26.

Clay Williams, the Executive Director of the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, says, “There are no surprises. When someone gets into a cab, they are going to be asked where they are traveling and are going to be handed this destination rate map, and at that time, they are going to know what the fare is to their ultimate destination.”

Also going into effect October 1st is a rule stating that all taxi cabs operating at the airport will be required to have credit card machines and all cabs will be required to have access to both Keesler and the Seabee Base.
