Airbnb Safety Tips
Summer travel season is here and that means people are booking places to stay all over the country and right here on the Gulf Coast.
“I love Air BnB and I’ve been a guest at least 50 times and I’ve been a host over 80 times now and I love it.” Kaitlyn Dannhart owns a top-listed Airbnb in Gulfport. She says Airbnb changed the way many of us travel for the better, but there are still safety concerns to watch out for while booking your stay. “You always want to check out the host reviews that are available. Something that a lot of people don’t know is that when you look at the reviews for the profile of each post a lot of times you’ll see where it’s the entire list of reviews and they might have 20, 30 Airbnb listings so it’s important to actually make sure you’re looking at that particular listing.”
Also, search and book with confidence, always communicate and pay on Airbnb’s website, and get questions you have answered before you arrive. Once you arrive be sure to do safety checks.
If you walk into an Airbnb bedroom and you see cameras, Dannhart says it’s time to ask questions. “Whenever you feel something is a little off you’re usually right. Always stay in communication with your host. Airbnb listing should never have cameras on the inside and if you do see that you should definitely report it because that’s not okay.”
Dannhart says most of all Airbnb is the way to stay and it will make you feel right at home. “We’ve stayed at Airbnb’s for my husband’s job and I love it because we become part of their family.’
