Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson announces run for MS governor

JACKSON, Miss. (WXXV)- A statewide elected Republican office holder has announced his candidacy for governor in the 2027 election.

Current Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson announced his bid for the state’s top office on social media Wednesday night.

In his statement announcing his candidacy, Gipson touted is conservative credentials and experience representing Mississippi on the national and world stage when it comes to agriculture interests.

Gipson is the first candidate in what is expected to be a crowded Republican primary field to succeed term-limited Governor Tate Reeves.
