Aggravated Assault Arrest – Rufus Barnes

On April 19, 2018 the Gulfport Police Department arrested 54 year old Rufus Anthony Barnes, of Gulfport, charging him with one count of Aggravated Assault.

On April 10, 2018, at 2:47 p.m., Officers responded to 3700 block Harrison Drive in reference to a shooting into an occupied dwelling.  Witnesses stated that a suspect shot at the residence causing damage to the exterior and interior of the home while occupied. Gulfport Police Detectives conducted an investigation which led to a warrant being issued for the arrest of Barnes.

Harrison County Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner issued a $250,000 bond.  Barnes turned himself in on April 19, 2018 without incident. He was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.
