Aggravated assault arrest

On July 18, 2018, the Biloxi Police Department arrested 55-year-old Bernard Matheny homeless in Biloxi on a warrant for aggravated assault.

The warrant was issued by Justice Court Judge Bruce Strong as the result of an investigation into an assault in which the victim received injuries after being struck with a machete type weapon. The incident reported on 07/16/2018 occurred in the 2600 block of Beach Blvd. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he received treatment for injuries sustained during this incident. The victim, also homeless, and the suspect are acquaintances.

Matheny was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center where he was held on a $100,000.00 bond previously set on the warrant by Judge Strong.
