AG Fitch announces 2026 Opioid Settlement Fund Grant Cycle
(Jackson, Mississippi) On behalf of the Opioid Settlement Fund Advisory Council, Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced new materials are now available for the 2026 Opioid Settlement Fund grant cycle on her website and on a comprehensive new portal for prospective applicants.
Applications for the 2026 grant cycle can be submitted online between August 31, 2026 and October 5, 2026.
“There are so many great organizations across Mississippi doing innovative and exciting things to help our State recover from the harm the opioid epidemic caused,” said Attorney General Lynn Fitch. “We have brought hundreds of millions of dollars to Mississippi and we encourage any organizations with programs or services that might be eligible to review these updated resources and learn more about how to apply and help Mississippi heal.”
The new grant portal includes materials approved by the Opioid Settlement Fund Advisory Council, including the scoring rubric, template memoranda of understanding, and the 2026 Request for Grant Applications, as well as detailed information about:
- what will be needed to apply for grant funding
- what the application process will entail
- how applications will be graded
- post-award requirements
- the timeline for application submission, review, and approval.
The Attorney General’s Office has contracted with The Steadman Group/NiVACK Group to help administer the grant program and they will provide technical assistance to applicants, including through two webinars scheduled during the application period:
- Tuesday, September 15, 2026 from 2:00-3:00 pm Central
- Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from 1:00-2:00 pm Central
The Legislature established the Opioid Settlement Fund Advisory Council in 2025 to make recommendations to the Legislature for funding from the approximately $400 million the State will receive over 18 years from settlements with over a dozen manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, retail pharmacies, and marketers of opioids, pursuant to litigation the Attorney General’s Office waged to hold the companies accountable for their roles in the opioid epidemic. Attorney General Fitch chairs the 37-member council. In the first grant cycle in 2025, the Council received nearly 130 applications and the Legislature approved $60,680,382 in appropriations from the Fund. As of June 16, 2026, the balance in the Opioid Settlement Fund was $111,466,409.76.
