African-American Art and Culture Celebration at the Gulfport Arts Center
In honor of Black History Month, the Gulfport Arts Center hosted a celebration of arts and culture.
The celebration of art and culture is a free exhibit spotlighting African American artists and writers all weekend long.
The exhibit includes beautiful quilts, pottery, paintings, drawings, and crocheted items.
This incredible exhibit was brought to life by Lois Hawthorne, who is a retired home economics teacher from Gulfport High School. “We used the Gulfport Art Center to stage an exhibition that represents the creative talents of African Americans. Everyone whose work is shown tonight and for the next two days are Native Mississippians.”
If you would like to see the exhibit yourself, it will be open Saturday through Monday.
