Acting Public Works Director Appointed
Today, Mayor FoFo Gilich announced a new acting public works director for Biloxi.
Mayor Gilich has appointed Billy Ray Allen to oversee the department Allen has worked in for more than 40 years. This comes a week after Dan Gaillet announced his resignation to spend more with a son who is recovering from a very bad automobile accident.
As for Allen, Mayor Gilich believes he has the experience and knowledge to address the challenges the city faces with construction and drainage.
“I just feel honored that Mayor Gilich has appointed me. Evidently he has confidence in me and what I do. You know, if we get through these FEMA projects that are ongoing now, so that possibly the taxpayers and citizens of Biloxi, they’ll have brand new streets and drainage and sidewalks and gutters,” said Allen.
Mayor Gilich is now looking to appoint a permanent leader for the city’s engineering division.
