Accident on I-10 near Exit 57 in Jackson County

A single vehicle crash in Jackson County held up traffic this morning.

The accident happened around 10:30 this morning on Interstate 10 between Exit 57 and Gautier-Vancleave Road.

According to Mississippi Highway Patrol, it was a two vehicle crash. Spokesman Chase Elkins tells News 25 an SUV was traveling in the left lane going eastbound when the driver fell asleep and went through the right lane, hitting an 18-wheeler.

The SUV went into the woods and the 18-wheeler came to a stop on the shoulder. No injuries were reported.
