Acadian Ambulance honors Mississippi Paramedic and EMT of the Year

May 3, 2024 – Each year, Acadian Ambulance recognizes its exceptional paramedics and EMTs for their tireless work ethic and dedication.

From across the company’s four-state service area, 32 paramedic and EMT finalists were nominated by their peers for displaying exemplary attitudes and providing excellent patient care. The top winners are selected by a company-wide committee.

Acadian Ambulance honored its top Paramedic and EMT of the Year, all regional Paramedics and EMTs of the Year, and its entire medical team at its celebration on May 7 in Lafayette, LA.

Paramedic Kayleigh Dunham and EMT Caroline Cash represent the company’s Mississippi service area and were finalists for the top honors.

Acadian Ambulance has operated in Jackson County since 2000, began operations in Harrison County on May 1, 2024, and has more than 100 employees in the region.

Kayleigh Dunham, Paramedic
Kayleigh is a native of Jackson County and graduate of Pascagoula High School. She attended EMT school shortly after graduating and joined Acadian Ambulance in 2015. In 2021, she became a paramedic, and in 2023, she completed her Critical Care Transport (CCT) certification with Acadian. She was recently promoted to a Paramedic Field Supervisor role.

Kayleigh always comes to work with a fun positive attitude. She is a field training officer (FTO) who loves teaching students and new employees. She has taken on every challenge with a great attitude and mastered each one.

When Kayleigh is not working, she spends time with her husband and three children. She also enjoys reading a good book with an iced coffee.

Caroline Cash, EMT
Caroline Cash came to the Gulf Coast in 2021 from Pennsylvania. She made a career change from being a licensed children’s therapist to becoming an EMT. She joined the Acadian Ambulance team in 2023.

Caroline is currently studying to become a paramedic through the National EMS Academy. Even with an often-heavy call load, she always has a positive attitude and smile on her face.

When Caroline has time off she enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling and cooking. She also enjoys relaxing with a good book. Caroline has been an amazing asset to the Jackson County team.
