Absentee ballots requested for General Election

This morning, 58,070 Mississippians requested absentee ballots for the upcoming November 5th General Election and 51,318 absentee ballots have been received by the Circuit Clerk’s Office.

Between Gulfport and Biloxi more than 200 people cast absentee ballots Saturday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. These are the general elections, however, for Harrison County five precincts will vote in a special election for Senate 50. Those precincts are New Hope, Howard Creek, Biloxi Two, Saucier, and Margaret Sherry.

Harrison County Circuit Clerk Connie Ladner says this will be an election day for the books. “This election I think is unprecedented because we are electing a new governor and lieutenant governor, secretary of state, attorney general. I mean it’s just we probably won’t see this again for a really long time where we elect all new people. So it’s so important to go vote, have your say, be informed, research the candidates, look at what they stand for and if they represent you and what you stand for it’s very important to be an informed voter.”

More than 1.9 million Mississippians are registered to vote in the upcoming election.
