A night that will forever go down in history as the Gulfport Admirals win their first Class 7A State Championship title!
Captains for the 2025 State Championship game are seniors Parker Nettles, Cooper Crosby, Jamarion Davis and Andre Peters.
The Admiral offense is known to strike big on the first possession, but find themselves in a third and 12 situation on the first drive. Thriving under pressure is the senior quarterback Parker Nettles dropping back and finding junior wide receiver Javious Hales and he darts across the field taking two goldens on a wave for a huge first down. Continuing that momentum, Nettles hands it over to his go-to, senior running back Cooper Crosby and the Mississippi State signee does the rest for 20 yards and the Admirals get on the board first! The kick is good and Gulfport takes the lead 7-0.
It wouldn’t take long for Tupelo to answer, their running back and Bulldog signee Jaeden Hill punches it in and ties things up to finish the first quarter. Soon after the Admiral defense would force a fumble, and cleaning it up yet again is Crosby, absolutely breezing by defenders for his second touchdown of the night, celebrating with a cowbell celebration in his soon-to-be new endzone. The Admirals enter the lockeroom at half with the lead a 14-7.
After a long third quarter, the Golden Wave would tie things up, and eventually take the lead in the fourth quarter, but miss the extra point making it 20-14.
Parker Nettles and the Admirals have 27 seconds on the clock to get as close as they could to that end zone, and with two perfect passes and completions near the sidelines, they would end up on the 33 yard line with just two seconds left. Parker Nettles drop back with the o-line does their job, he sends a Hail Mary all the way into the endzone and it’s tipped, but coming down with it is junior wide receiver Mylan Stubbs and we’re all tied at 20 while the clock expires!
Junior kicker Carter Platt with the extra point of his life and he nails it! The Gulfport Admirals are your Class 7A State Champions with a final score of 21-20! A storybook ending to a historic 2025 football season!
