A.J. Holloway Sports Complex renovation experiences weather delays as it nears finish line
The A.J. Holloway Sports Complex is in the middle of receiving a five-million-dollar facelift
The complex is starting to come together since renovations began in September.
Rocks are being spread out and leveled on each field and then contractors will come put in the turf and lay sod.
This takes between 4 and 8 days per field, plus time for the grass to start rooting.
Due to the weather, progress is about a week behind, but Jamie Lee, assistant director for Parks and Recreation, says they are still pushing forward.
“Everything that we do out here is dependent on Mother Nature. We really don’t have a time frame of when it could be ready,” Lee said. “We’re hoping that it will be ready for the spring. That’s kind of what we’re shooting for, but we do have some plans and contingency plans in place just in case it is not ready for our spring baseball and softball league.”
Lee believes this project will be well worth the patience when it’s all finished.
