White Avenue Gate closed until October 14th

The White Avenue gate entrance at Keesler Air Force Base will be closed now through October 14th.

The City of Biloxi asked for the gate closure as they complete underground construction repairs along White Avenue and as the city hosts the 23rd annual Cruisin’ the Coast event.

The reason behind the closing is to allow for the City of Biloxi to install new water, sewer, and storm drains. They also close the gate during Cruisin’ the Coast to decrease traffic.

During this time, anyone trying to get on base is asked to use the Pass Road or Meadows Avenue entrances.

Visitor passes can also be obtained at either of those gates. Keesler Chief of Media Relations Sarah Loicano said, “We have a really great community partnership with the City of Biloxi. So, when they asked us to close our gate so that they can get this construction completed before Cruisin’ the Coast, we knew that safety is important. We were happy to oblige and work our schedule around so that they could get the construction completed in a timely manner.”

Multiple intersections in the city will see closures as well due to construction. White Avenue at Irish Hill Drive will be closed starting next Monday, September 30th through October 5th.

White Avenue at Father Ryan Avenue will be closed starting Wednesday through September 30th.
