Ocean Springs community shows out at annual pep rally
Greyhound nation showed out in full force for their annual pep rally.
The stands were packed and the colors grey and blue were represented well for Greyhounds. Ocean Springs High School invited the community to show their support as their fall athletic season kicks off.
Because of COVID and bad weather, this is the first rally they’ve had in four years. For the Greyhounds, it has been a long time coming, but they’re thankful to once again show some spirit. Soccer player Jessica said, “It’s very wholesome. It’s heartfelt and it’s amazing to see all of this turnout and everyone willing to support in some way.”
Cheerleader Morgan said, “It feels really great to have a good support system and have everyone around you just wanting you to do well.”
Superintendent Dr. Bonita Coleman said, “Family, fun, everything around is Greyhound spirit. Making sure we’re not only encouraging each other, but encouraging our students. This is really like what we do, we celebrate.”
“I think we’re going to have a lot of exciting things planned for us. I think our athletics are going to go great. I’m really excited for the year.”
The Greyhounds football team kicks off their 2022 season at home tomorrow against the Gautier Gators at 7:30 p.m. News 25’s Jeff Haeger will have the highlights on the Friday Night Showcase.
