Long Beach, Ocean Springs earn Top 10 overall rankings in state testing

Two school districts in South Mississippi are celebrating after the state Department of Education released its new assessment numbers.

Long Beach and Ocean Springs school districts ranked in the Top 10 overall in the state in all four subject areas that students tested in for the 2021-2022 school year in grades 3 through 8.

The tests were a measure for student proficiency and test scores under the Mississippi Academic Assessment Program.

In addition to the Top 10 overall rankings, Ocean Springs School District was No. 1 in English Language Arts and Biology.

The four subject areas that were tested were Math and Algebra, English Language Arts, Biology and History.

Here is how schools in South Mississippi fared in the Top 10:

Math and Algebra: Long Beach, Ocean Springs

English Language Arts: Long Beach, Ocean Springs, Harrison County

Biology: Long Beach, Ocean Springs, Pass Christian, Poplarville, Jackson County, Biloxi

History: Long Beach, Ocean Springs, Bay-Waveland
