MDOT making emergency repairs to HWY 67 ramp to HWY 49 in Harrison County

MDOT is making emergency repairs at the Highway 67 ramp to Highway 49.

The agency sent out an alert this morning saying both exit ramps at the interchange would be closed as crews made emergency repairs to a sink hole that opened up a few weeks ago on the Highway 67 ramp leading to Highway 49 southbound.

Maintenance Superintendent Thomas Muffler says his crews are performing preventative work by resealing the structural joints to prevent water from going through to the ground below. “Anytime you’ve got water that’s flowing, that’s sediment, and it found a way in and it just started washing some sediment with all the rainfall that we’ve been having. You know, nothing major, just normal wear and tear that we have to address.”

According to MDOT, the ramps should reopen to traffic by 4 this afternoon. You can check the status of the repairs on MDOT’s website or by checking the MDOT traffic app.
