Shark Weekend at Mississippi Aquarium begins Saturday
The Discovery Channel may have Shark Week, but here in South Mississippi, we have our very own Shark Weekend.
USM is once again teaming up with the Mississippi Aquarium for their second annual Shark Weekend. The two-day event is a hands-on way for aquarium guests to learn more about shark conservation, dispel some of the many myths associated with sharks, and meet people who work in shark research.
The USM team will have informational booths set up around the aquarium as well as activities for children facilitated by aquarium staff. Manager of Education Lauren Fuller said, “This Saturday and Sunday, we’re going to have shark researchers here. They’ve got fun educational activities setup throughout the aquarium where people will get to learn a little bit about sharks, learn about some of the myths and have those dispelled, and just be able to get hands on and figure out more about shark research.”
The Mississippi Aquarium will be open for Shark Weekend July 30th and July 31st from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
