Memorial Nurse recognized by Mississippi Heroes

A new Mississippi hero was recognized today at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport.

Mississippi Heroes is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to celebrate everyday family, professional, and community caregivers who sacrifice their time, money, or opportunities to help take care of others.

The organization decided to recognize Christina Jones today. She is an ER nurse at Memorial Hospital.

Christina is also a fighter who has overcome obstacles and now her job as a nurse is to help her patients do the same thing each and every day. “Whenever I was 15, I got very sick. I was in a coma for about two months and that was due to toxic shock syndrome. I had to learn how to re-walk again from having a stroke, I had organ failure so it was a long journey. I decided I wanted to become a nurse after that. I felt like that was God’s plan for me so here I am.”

Christina was able to share this memorable moment with her family, friends, and members of Memorial Staff.
