Gulfport alum Derick Hall representing Auburn Tigers at SEC Media Days
Former Gulfport Admiral Derick Hall has turned himself into quite the college football player.
The former four-star recruit from the class of 2019, not only working his way up to becoming a household name with the Auburn Tigers, but now he is one of three players representing the program at SEC Media Days.
He even had the shot to go pro after sacking Alabama quarterback Bryce Young three times during the Iron Bowl, but loyalty prevailed. “Heading into the Iron Bowl, or right after the Iron Bowl, heading into the bowl game, I told my mom, like I was done. I’m gone. Like I’m going to the league. I’m going to make it happen. But really sitting down and really thinking about it – one, I wanted to finish school, get my degree. So that was the biggest thing, education. The next biggest thing was, why would I leave and miss out on the college experience? Because you never get that back. Just being able to play with my brothers one more time, put in the hard work, the grit, the toughness, the blood, sweat and tears one more time, that was a really big thing for me as well. So, I love Auburn. Auburn loves me back, for sure.”
Auburn kicks off the 2022 season at home on September 3rd against Mercer.
