Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art holding birthday bash in honor of George Ohr’s 165th birthday

Saturday is the anniversary of what would be George Ohr’s 165th birthday.

To celebrate the occasion, the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum will be throwing him a birthday party. You’ll be able to visit the museum Saturday free of charge.

So, you’ll have a chance to tour the museum and admire the Ohr’s work along with the work in their rotating exhibits.

There will be food, a craft fair, ceramics sale, and you can even stop in their studio and craft your own masterpiece.

The bash not only pays tribute to Biloxi’s renowned Mad Potter, but the creativity throughout Mississippi. Marketing and Public Relations Director Molly Shea said, “George Ohr is a great example of a showman, of someone who made beautiful works of art that weren’t appreciated in their time. So, now people can see how much of a genius he is. I don’t think that story doesn’t have to end with George Ohr, I think we should continue supporting artists in our community and lifting them up.”

Admission is free all-day Saturday and the birthday party is from 10 to 4.
