Summer camps across the Coast coming to an end
Summer camps across the Coast are beginning to wrap up.
Camp Counselors are commemorating the end of the camp with bouncy house and water slide to beat the Mississippi heat.
Extend a Hand, Help a Friend’s Youth of Tomorrow summer camp wraps up this Friday.
The three-week long camp welcomes kids from across the Coast to gather together and learn life lessons.
The CEO of Extend a Hand, Help a Friend believes that camps like these are essential for our youth, considering the violence surrounding nearby communities.
It is important to let them socialize and become educated to strengthen their decision-making skills. Camper Jace Beard said, “We did work on some stuff like, we can’t go anywhere without permission. We can’t just go out the door. We also learned that we can’t be running around places doing stuff that we ain’t got no business, that won’t get us nowhere.”
The summer camp is wrapping up earlier than normal this year since the Gulfport School District has switched to their new flexible schedule. A majority of their students will be going back to school on the 22nd.
