Ocean Springs QB Bray Hubbard commits to Alabama Crimson Tide

What started off as small talk in the tenth grade turned into a much bigger conversation for Bray Hubbard right before entering his senior season.

The Ocean Springs football standout takes time to tell News 25 his journey of committing to the University of Alabama.

Being on the receiving end of the recruitment process came quite early to Bray Hubbard, especially from the Crimson Tide. “I first heard from them in the tenth grade. We texted back and forth my sophomore year. This year, after the Biloxi game, I heard from Pete Golding again. He was like ‘hey, man, good game.’”

Hubbard said after that, Alabama meant business and things happened quite fast. “Alabama was a quick process. I went up there and did camp June 4th, did some stuff at safety, and they actually offered me like a week after.”

At the camp, Hubbard put in work and was offered as a safety, meaning he would no longer play quarterback, but he knows his current position will help him excel in his new position. “What Alabama wants from me is, as a safety, is a guy smart back there. Plays quarterback in high school, smart and athletic, he can line up the other ten guys on offense, I mean on the defense, so that’s kinda what they’re going to use me for.”

Hubbard knows that no matter what position is beside his name, it’s an honor to be on the Bama roster. “It’s like wow, not every kid gets to do this, but at the same time it is every kids dream to play for Alabama.”

With his verbal commitment behind him, he can now enjoy his senior season and focus on bringing the state championship home to the Greyhounds. “It’s kinda relief and excitement. Now I kinda know where I’m going so now I can kinda sit down and kinda, just the weight is kinda off now. My senior season, my last year. It’s everybody’s dream in high school is to win a state championship, now that’s the goal. And we got the team to do it.”
