ACLU MS reacts to Supreme Court decision regarding abortion

The Supreme Court choosing to overturn Roe v. Wade has created a lot of noise in the state of Mississippi.

The American Civil Liberties Union believes the ruling is shameful. ACLU sees the overturning as “an unprecedented attack on women’s rights and reproductive freedom.”

They feel that this decision “is turning back the clock and putting Mississippi on the wrong side of history.”

News 25 talked with ACLU Mississippi Executive Director Jarvis Dortch to discuss his reaction. “It’s something we’re fighting against, it’s always thought that we would be moving forward. Even if our politics are a little bit different, we all want to move forward and we’re going backwards in a way that doesn’t really seem to do anybody any good.”

The ACLU plans to hit the ground running and says they will ‘continue to fight for what they believe is right.’
