Plasma Center seeing more donors due to inflation
People are looking for ways to make some extra cash due to inflation and CSL Plasma is seeing an uptick in donors.
CSL Plasma operates one of the world’s largest plasma collection networks, with more than 300 plasma collection centers, including one in Gulfport.
Plasma is a light-yellow colored liquid component of blood in which blood cells are absent, but contains proteins that can treat many health problems.
People can donate plasma twice within a seven-day period. Donors can make several hundred dollars. CSL Plasma Division Medical Director Dr. Jennifer Hanes said, “We have seen a great increase in our donations in recent months. Part of that as you indicated is definitely related to the economy. Also, we are seeing people getting back to their normal lives after COVID-19. But you are correct. We have more donors coming into the center, which is wonderful because we really use that plasma to help create therapy for people with rare and life-threatening diseases.”
To donate plasma at CSL, you must be between 18 and 74 years of age and in good health. You must also be able to provide picture ID and proof of residency.
