Ole Miss faces off against Arkansas tonight in College World Series

Ole Miss baseball will be squaring off with Arkansas in the Rebels’ second game of the College World Series in Omaha.

They played the Razorbacks earlier in the year in Fayetteville where the Razorbacks took two of three, but that series was incredibly significant for Ole Miss.

When Mike Bianco’s group lost the final game, the team officially hit rock bottom. They were 7-14 in SEC play and their backs were to the wall.

It prompted the players and coaching staff to take a long look in the mirror. Catcher Hayden Dunhurst said, “We were at an all-time low at Arkansas. We all looked at each other and the season was either over after that weekend if we didn’t start winning. We were like we’re just gonna keep playing our baseball and see what happens. We got in and have played good baseball recently.”

Coach Bianco said, “Knew we were close but still at the time didn’t know which way we’d go. We played well at Arkansas just kind of not in the niche – not well enough and another weekend – that was the third weekend in a row we won on Friday or the opening game of the series and didn’t win the next two. They were both really close games.”

Ever since that series, Ole Miss has been scorching hot, 14-3 in the span, the only undefeated team in the country in the NCAA Tournament at 6-0.
