Shopping spree at Academy for children from the Boys and Girls Club of the Gulf Coast

Children from the Boys and Girls Club of the Gulf Coast received a $1,500 shopping spree.

Fifteen $100 gift cards were donated by Academy to support kids as they prepare for a free fishing event this Saturday, June 11th.

At Academy Sports and Outdoors, the kids selected new fishing gear ahead of the City of Gulfport and Coastal Conservation Association of Mississippi’s Casting for Conservation event.

With help shopping alongside student anglers from the Gulfport High bass fishing team, the kids got exactly what they need for a day casting away. Boys and Girls Club of the Gulf Coast COO Wayne Buchanan said, “I thank the City of Gulfport, Gulfport High School, and Academy for allowing us to be a part of this great experience. Maybe, otherwise, they would not have that opportunity. So, they’re here, they’re asking a lot of questions. They’re here with the Gulfport High fishing team and they’re able to give their expertise.”

Academy also donated $500 gift cards to Gulfport High’s bass fishing team.
