Seashore Mission in Biloxi needs help

As we inch closer and closer to the summer months, the temperatures continue to rise on the thermostat which is why Biloxi Seashore Mission needs your help.

Seashore  Mission in Biloxi is a place where the homeless can go to feel welcome. Seashore Mission Executive Director Elijah Mitchell said, “They are able to come in. We sign them in every day to take showers, wash clothes, and we serve meals here.”

Along with doing all of those things, Seashore Mission also provides many other resources including an on-site food pantry and clothing closet. This month, the mission has served over 2,000 meals. “Some people have been really blessed and some have not been blessed. They find themselves in an awful situation, but we are people. We are human beings and I think we should be helping each other.”

Every day, the people at Seashore Mission help the community, but now they need your help to service their nine air cooling units which will cost about $1,000. “It is important because the weather is hot and it is only going to get hotter. June 1st will start hurricane season. People need a place to come in out of the weather.”

Mitchell says it is important to help others because you never know when you might need a hand. “Anyone of us can be on the street or without shelter any day.”

If you would like to donate to help you can drop off money or items directly at Seashore Mission or contact them here.
