The Jolly raises funds for local nonprofits

The Bacot McCarty Foundation’s biggest fundraiser returned to Shell Landing and nearly 260 golfers hit the green Saturday.

Each year, the Jolly McCarty Memorial Gala and Golf Tournament raises thousands of dollars for nonprofits on the Coast.

Tickets for the gala on Friday had sold out again this year. Bacot McCarty Foundation Executive Director Todd Trenchard said, “Twenty years ago when I first came out here, I didn’t know how to put on a golf tournament, I talked to the club pro and he said you need three things: You need a good course, you need good food, and a good cause. And we’ve tried to do that. Be a good cause, have the best food, and with a great course, it’s a can’t miss. A lot of effort goes into it. We take it to the next level. I think people come from other tournaments, other courses, and they see what we do and start copying it.”

This was the Jolly’s 20th anniversary.
