Man arrested for assaulting a Bay St. Louis police officer

Police in Bay St. Louis have a man in custody facing assault charges on a police officer.

This morning, around 1:30, Bay St. Louis police were called out to a home on Hancock Street after reports of trespassing.

Officers found 26-year-old Shaquille Bell on the property and attempted to take him into custody.  Bell bit an officer on the hand and was transported to the Hancock County Jail after a brief struggle.

He has been charged with one count of felony simple assault on a police officer and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
