Fatal train vs. car accident in Biloxi

A train vs. car accident yesterday in Biloxi leaves one man dead.

Police say that around 1 a.m. Sunday a vehicle headed south on Rodenburg collided with a train. Harrison County Deputy Coroner Brian Switzer says 22-year-old Lazaro Morales of Biloxi died on the scene from blunt force trauma to the head and neck.

Eyewitnesses say that the vehicle did not appear to stop, ignoring the crossing and striking the train’s engine. Both Morales and the passenger were ejected from the vehicle.

The passenger is currently in critical condition at USA Medical Center in Mobile.

Switzer says alcohol is possibly a factor in this investigation.
