Railroad Crossings closed for maintenance in Ocean Springs
Announced yesterday, CSX said railroad crossings in Ocean Springs will be closed for maintenance.
One crew began to the east of Highway 57, headed west along the tracks.
Another crew began to the east of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue head west on the tracks.
Each crossing will be closed for about two days with the remaining crossings being closed as they are approached.
The City of Ocean Springs suggested citizens to sign up for Code-Red and to follow the city’s social media pages for future updates and information.
Also, the City of Biloxi has been notified that CSX will temporarily close 10 rail crossings Tuesday morning for as long as two days for maintenance.
The work will be to replace railroad ties and repave asphalt at the crossings from Oak Street to Reynoir Street. During the work, crossings at Oak, Crawford, Holley, Keller, Lee, Main, Lameuse, Delauney, Magnolia, and Reynoir streets will be closed.
Motorists in Biloxi should use the crossing at Caillavet Street or others to the west as alternate routes. CSX does not expect to close the crossing at Caillavet at any time during the project.
On Thursday, CSX is expected move west and work on 10 crossings at a time until all crossings in Biloxi have been upgraded. Each set of work is expected to last for two days.
