East Central alum Brad Cumbest named SEC Player of the Week
East Central High School alum Brad Cumbest has been tabbed by the Southeastern Conference as its player of the week.
The former Hornet tattooed the ball all week to the tune of a .538 batting average with two home runs and seven hits, including Saturday’s go-ahead solo shot in the top of the 11th inning.
For the season, Cumbest is pacing the Diamond Dawgs with a .340 batting average and a .653 slugging percentage. His 12 homers are tied for second.
