USM Southern Chorale performs at First United Methodist
The Southern Chorale, or the Vocal Ensemble of the University of Southern Mississippi, visited the First United Methodist Church in Gulfport to perform incredible pieces of music.
The 58 member chorale is filled with undergraduate and graduate students consisting of primarily upper division voice majors. This is the third time the Southern Chorale has performed at First United Methodist Church.
Song selections from the chorale pleased everyone in the audience with jazz, pop, and much more. Director of Choral Activities at USM Dr. Gregory Fuller said, “Our pop group will do some pop things tonight that people will recognize from the radio, Beyoncé and things like that. Also, you will hear some traditional American spirituals tonight, just a lot of diverse choral music.”
This is the last time the Southern Chorale will perform on the Coast in 2019. They plan to travel to New York to perform later this year.
