Woman identified in Harrison County fatal accident

On Saturday, January 12, 2019, Sheriff Troy Peterson announced the death of 33-year old-Mary Ann Bret of Long Beach.

On January 12, 2019, at approximately 05:42 PM, deputies responded to a traffic crash on Canal Road, approximately a half a mile south of Interstate 10, involving a bicycle and a  Chevrolet Suburban.  The initial investigation showed that the bicycle, being rode by Mary Bret, and the Chevy Suburban, were both traveling north on Canal Road.  The bicycle was struck in the rear by the front bumper of the Chevy Suburban.  Mary Ann Bret was pronounced deceased on the scene.

An accident investigator responded to the scene for a reconstruction of the crash. Neither excessive speed nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is still ongoing.
