Biloxi Mayor Race and Possible Open Seats

Felix Gines, Kenny Glavan, Dixie Newman, and Paul Tisdale are all Biloxi Council Members, and they’re running for Biloxi Mayor.
If one of them wins, Biloxi voters will be heading back to the polls yet again.
“If one of them does become mayor then we would again have to call for another special election to fill the open seat on the city council. So the process would basically start over for us”, said Biloxi Municipal Clerk, Stacey Thacker.
Since the mayoral special election wasn’t planned, the city had to allocate special funding for the costs.
The council has approved up to $75,000 to fund the April 28th election.
If a Biloxi Council Member wins, that means a new election must happen to fill their vacated seat.
The Biloxi City Council won’t be the only ones having to fill a seat as a result of the Biloxi mayoral race. If Windy Swetman is elected mayor, the Harrison Co Board of Supervisors will be looking at going through the same process to fill an open seat, for the third time this year.
“I’m sure we’ll go through the same method that we did before. We did get phone calls from different people and we just look it and kind of discuss it and see who might be the best to fill the position. There is a little instability and insecurity that we feel that happens so we try to fill it just as quickly as possible.”
